Sectionals Experience

Fall Fellowship or Spring Sectionals? What was a favorite memory from your sectionals experience? What were some things you liked or disliked during sectionals?

After having gone to my first Spring Sectionals as a pledge, I think my favorite memory from sectionals was when I went to get IC interviews and I met some interesting people. For example, one person that I met told a life event she experienced after every question which was a very interesting and eye opening interview in that you never know what a person has gone through in their life. Oh also going to the workshops was fun because I got to go to them with my bigs and had fun. Sectionals was great and I can't wait for the next one!

I'd pick Fall Fellowship over Spring Sectionals any day! I'm not sure if it was because I was a pledge when I went to Fall Fellowship so it felt brand new and exciting, but I didn't enjoy sectionals as much. At FF we interacted more with ICs and the workshops were entertaining. Sectionals was different in that chapters seemed to be sticking together and not a lot of bonding went on, I spoke to maybe 3 ICs all day.

Although I didn't have as much fun at Sectionals, my favorite moment was when
we gave Collynn her flag and she started crying. It was really nice to see that she has feelings (HA kidding) and to be able to honor her for all the hard work she's done for AEN. I know that my pledging experience and this semester would not have been the same without her around.

Fall Fellowship. It was my first huge IC event. Just being there was quite an experience. But my favorite memory is roll call. It was really fun. I'm not the type to get up there and dance. But it was fun seeing everyone together. Seeing other chapters and what they got. It was nice to hear our chapter being loud and cheering. Even though I was stressed out, I'm glad that I had the chance to sit down and interview ICs for my project. We didn't rush at all and we went beyond the questions. I didn't expect to connect with some ICs so it was nice.

I attended Fall Fellowship last semester, and I was really happy with my experience. The weeks leading up to it were stressful, especially because our final was the day after Fall Fellowship. It felt really rewarding to finally perform our roll call. That was probably my favorite memory. It was also nice to see the extension of Alpha Phi Omega as a national fraternity. We often are so used to only seeing the APhiO members at USF, but it is great to see that we are a part of something much bigger. It was overall a good experience though.

Since I am a pledge, I have only attended Spring Sectionals. My favorite memory from my experience would be roll call. It was pretty cool to see how all our hard work and hours of practice eventually lead into a great performance. In addition, I also like how it was so easy to talk to and meet people from other chapters. Everyone was so nice when I had to interview them! I also enjoyed the warm weather in San Jose. Some thing I disliked would probably be waking up so early after such a late dance practice. It was hard to get any sleep that week, but it was all worth it when we arrived to sectionals.

Fall Fellowship. My favorite memory was doing roll call. I got to dance and be a little mermaid. I liked watching other chapters perform their roll call.

I have never been to Fall Fellowship, but I certainly enjoyed Spring Sectionals. I loved seeing all the different roll call performances from the chapters in our section. I liked seeing San Jose’s campus and meeting people from other schools.

My first Fall Fellowship during pledging was super fun! Getting ready and waking up super early was crazy because the meetup time was insane for me; there were so many people sleeping at the UC4. Doing an early Starbucks run was really fun with Rumneek, my bigs, and my Pdad Richie. It was my first time at CSUS and even though it smelled like cow poop getting out of the bus, it was a really fun experience. The workshops were super cool cause we did henna for one and cookie decorating for another. During lunch, I met up with an old friend from high school who is a brother at AGN for interviews and it's crazy how much has changed since we last saw each other. Roll call was probably my favorite part because I was amazed by how amazing everyone was at dancing and how creative everyone was. I really underestimated how well everyone danced.

Spring Sectionals

I liked waiting in the wings before going on stage before roll call. It was pretty exciting. Well, it was nerve wracking but at the same time, you were filled with adrenaline. I was like, imma bust out my moves that we practiced for like 10 hours straight. I really liked roll call and everyone's themes. I loved the fact that it was musical themed so I knew all of them.

I liked Fall Fellowship better than Spring Sectionals. My favorite memory was being a mummy in roll call, waking up from the dead! I liked the workshops at Fall Fellowship. I did the Henna Tattoo and Cookie Decorating. Meeting other ICs was cool! I got to meet some cool and interesting people.

Spring Sectionals

Meet my brother's Bigs and Sponsor from Iota Phi chapter (UC Davis) during ice breaker and took picture with them. Hung out with my Bigs during the banquet, saw people cheering for me and my chapter dancers during Roll Call.

Spring Sectionals was a lot of fun, especially roll call and meeting people from other chapters and getting to talk to them and interview them. My favorite memory of the day was when we got to watch all of the other chapters in roll call because all of their dancers were creative and unique in their own ways and you could tell that they all worked really hard on their dances.

Fall Fellowship! It was at the end when we finished our performance. I was really proud of all of us going up there and doing our best. Other schools hold auditions to only perform the best at roll call but to me, the most important thing was doing it together. Auditioning to be in roll call feels exclusive and it takes away from the friendship. I'm glad that everyone had the opportunity to do it and yeah!

Last but never least...

The greatest thank yous to our Fellowship VP, Collynn "Coco" Dang! These past four sectionals would not have been the same without you. From planning roll call to making giveaways to finding drivers, the chapter appreciates everything you do and will dearly miss you when you graduate.
