Goodbye to the Old and Hello to the New!

President

Brittany Ong

During my terms as President, I have seen three pledge classes cross over, crossed over two of my own littles, and seen the chapter progress immensely. I have been extremely proud to see many Brothers step up to the executive board and take on leadership positions. As President, I have felt most proud when my executive board members have achieved their goals and when Brothers have shined in the Chapter. Majority of my proud moments have been the little, yet powerful moments.

If I had more time, I would have planned more events for brothers and encouraged the Brother Outings for everyone to get together. There are endless possibilities of what I would have wanted to do had I been allotted more time, but I can confidently say that the incoming executive board will be able to fulfill these opportunities and more. No regrets!

For the next President, I wouldn't say I necessarily have hopes because I already know he has amazing plans in store for the Chapter. Martin will be a brilliant role model for both Brothers and pledges for the upcoming school year. I am extremely proud of him for stepping up and already showing what a strong President he will be. Always wishing you the best of luck!

Martin Juarez

I definitely look forward into stepping into a new role that I never saw myself doing before

I also look forward to working with this executive board as well as brothers who are willing to step up as leaders. I am excited for the year ahead to pursue the goals that I set for myself.

I want to work on increased communication like bringing back CAPS.

To involve brother opinions in setting chapter goal.

Make sure brothers feel appreciated whether that be through workshops or small little things like acknowledgments.

Lastly, I am excited to work with both brothers and executive board to start the scholarship fund.

Membership VP

Marvin Huang

The proudest moment that we've experienced as Membership VP is seeing the chapter grow and progress these last two semesters. Brothers have really stepped up to being involved in enacting change in our chapter. We see genuine love for our chapter and for making it a place for everyone to enjoy. If we had more time, we would have wanted to bring even more events that involved more families to promote interfamily unity. Some hopes we have are for more family events that promotes unity rather than competitiveness because we are all important and we should be helping each other before competing with each other. We also hope that the Alumni Picnic will be continued on with increased attendance because it is important to learn from our past to improve our future. Who better to learn from than those who have gone through it all before!

Joanne Tran

I'm very proud that the Alumni event was able to come through. It's always been on the calendar but it's never been done. So the fact that we were able to execute it was such a proud moment for us. I'm glad that we decided to create Family Heads. It's a great liason and it makes it easier to keep track of three different sets of people rather than a whole chapter coming up to you asking for family events.

I really wanted to host more competitive family events. This semester was full of study sessions and I feel like if we had more time then we would have more family events to create more family competition. I would want to celebrate brother birthdays more. For example, it would be a good idea to recognize brothers on Instagram when it was their birthday.

I hope the next Membership VP keeps the tradition of planning an Alumni event, coming up with more family events, celebrating brothers' birthdays, and basically everything else we do now. I just hope that they continue what we started but didn't get a chance to finish.

Paulina Nguyen

As the incoming Membership VP, I really look forward to working with Brothers and the incoming pledge class to strengthen the bond between each other, outside from our designated families. I hope to bring back surprise family events during general meetings to create a pop of fun little activities. In addition, I hope to foster a greater emphasis on the Brothers of our chapter, since we serve as role models and are the foundation for our chapter.

Overall, I’m definitely super excited to step into the role as Membership VP. With the help of the rest of eboard and with the guidance of our previous Membership VPs Marvin Huang and Joanne Tran, I will do my best to bring back the inter-family love and excitement of Brotherhood! Alpha Phi Omega has become such an influential and important part of my college experience, so I will do my very best to exemplify the ideals that I have learned from being a Brother and share it with all you lovely people! <3

Service VP

Paulina Nguyen

To be completely honest, I never pictured myself holding an executive position, ever. However, serving as the 2014-2015 Service VP was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding experiences! Yes, I can say that stress consumed my life, but seeing pictures of Brothers and Pledges participate in services and receiving "Thank You" emails and postcards from volunteer coordinators leaves such a warm, heartfelt feeling inside. I love hearing your ""Highlights" from services because those little anecdotes help me realize that we're all making a huge difference through our small actions.

I know that our next Service VP, Macky Lee, will do an incredible job and I'm excited to see the new ideas she has in store for our chapter. I'm thrilled that we'll be able to participate in the Color "Shine" Run and Relay for Life next semester! Just know that if you ever need help, I'm here for you girl! <3

Lastly, thank you to you all for believing in me and allowing me to serve as your Service VP! I love you all so much! :)

Macky Lee

I'm looking forward to getting to know what the brothers and pledges are passionate about and what they are interested in doing to find new services that would be fun for them. My goals are to motivate brothers and pledges to get excited about doing service so that they sign up for a service with the mindset that they want to do service, not just to complete their hours. Another goal I want to achieve is for our chapter to be eligible to win the Service Gold Pan at Spring Sectionals, so that includes doing service with people outside of our chapter and providing leadership opportunities within the process of doing service.

Fellowship VP

Collynn Dang

I’m so grateful to have served two whole years of Fellowship, it has been such an amazing experience. I have too many proud moments but the proudest are when I see how much AEN comes together whenever Fall Fellowship or Spring Sectionals come around. There is so much participation from not only Pledges but Brothers as well and its such a heart-warming feeling to see how much we support each other and especially how happy everyone is being together. If I had more time I would have definitely wanted to put together more brother activities other than brotherhoods. As well as, I would’ve wanted to try new things with roll call like adding more transitions within dances. For the future Fellowship VP's, I hope that they stay passionate and spirited about the chapter. Also, to inspire our members to be supportive and friends to all of those in our AEN family. I love my chapter, being the Fellowship VP has been the most gratifying adventure and I’ll definitely miss it.

Crystal Wong

I'm excited to apply all that Collynn has taught me this year to the upcoming school year. Of course, I want to add my own twist on things. I can't wait to get other people pumped up to be a part of this organization! What I'm really looking forward to is all the laughs and smiles and maybe even tears that might come out of fellowships. I'm ready to create unforgettable memories with one another. My biggest goal for next year is to emphasize the idea that we can find friendships in all that we do in APO, especially in finishing requirements. I want to throw expectations out the door and remind everybody that a friend is someone there always willing to help another individual out!

Finance VP

Nicole Tolosa

Proudest moment is that we are now coherent with SLE financially wise. I wish we could fully adapt into SLE and managed fully with them. I hope that we are more coherent with SLE.

Vanni Aurelio

I want to expose the chapter to more fundraising opportunities. Also, I would like them to see that fundraising is a bonding experience rather than just buying boba with money. I want them to see where the money is going because it is actually going somewhere in the chapter.

I like how Eva tried to match the pledges in their fundraising amount so I would like to do the same in this upcoming year.

Administrative VP

Tiffany Lau

My proudest moments occur at the end/beginning of every month. I decided to revamp the Nusletter format and content. I was unsure how the chapter would react but I'm glad that brothers willingly submitted to the Nusletter. Regardless if it was for Leadership credit, I'm happy that the Nusletter has words of AEN Brothers. Also presenting the Nusletter is always a nice feeling since struggling to put it together the night before makes it worth it when I see the chapter excited to see the final product too. If I had more time, I would have definitely spent more time working on the entire website instead of just one aspect of it. I hope that the next AVP will spend time to change the website and add more to it since I didn't. I hope that he doesn't lose sight of all the amazing goals he has planned and that he pursues each and every one of them.

Neo Kim

I am looking forward to help the chapter's growth by making great decisions with

the future E-Board and making sure that our fraternity is presented positively in every

aspect possible. I want to show/prove to our campus that we are a great fraternity

that can provide service to all.

Some goals I have in mind:

1) Revamping the website

2) Creating the Google Calendar

3) Creating more meaningful NusLetter (not saying that the previous ones were not)

4) Making sure all information is arrived on time and in an orderly manner.

5) Becoming an Admin VP that people can rely on

6) Becoming an Admin VP that Tiffany Lau can be proud of!

Parliamentarian

Timothy Castillo

It's a really great year as Parliamentarian and I am incredibly glad and thankful that I have had to the opportunity to serve the chapter as a member of EBoard. I would like to thank everyone for all of the lessons that I have learned and all of the the experiences that I gone through because of the chapter and because of everyone's strong driving passion towards Alpha Phi Omega and service.

If I were going to name one memory or moment to highlight my year as Parliamentarian, it would have to be the Gen Meeting after EH's revealing. I hear some whispers and laughter going on in the first couple minutes of Gen Meeting and I think to myself "Who is dumb enough to be talking this early in Gen Meeting?" So I walk on over and I grab the shoulder of the loudest person. Lo and behold, I find out it's my Lils, Kevin Mapoy. All of EH starts snickering at him and I say "Are you serious? First gen meeting after revealing and you're the first person I have to tell to be quiet?"

If I had more time to be Parliamentarian, I would bring back my questions and giveaways from the Fall semester and I hope that is something that future Parliamentarians would be able to to follow through and not only continue, but also build on into bigger and greater things.

Thanks for having me as Parliamentarian, AEN. It was a pleasure serving you. Best of wishes to you all.

Anthony Manalo

I love forward to the Sunday meetings, it'll be like pledging Sundays but LFS x 1 million.

I look forward to revising the By Laws. I heard it gets wild, I'll bring the peace to the enthalpy.
I look forward to serving others, lets make gains this year.

A goal I have is to sit down with my E-Board bros and set goals for the year. We are going to hold ourselves to a higher standard and be accountable while doing it. In addition, I want to inspire those who lost their fire; to inspire the uninspired.

Historian

James Zamora

My proudest moment as historian of Alpha Phi Omega would have to be seeing people's comments and reactions whenever photos get uploaded. I have fun taking photos and it's nice to see when people like whatever I put up. I would have made stricter rules with photo-taking because that's not much fun when everyone's kind of being unruly when they want their photo taken. I hope Bonnie does a great job capturing the wonderful memories of the chapter! Also hopefully she'll do a good job with managing the whole chapter during big events and their photos. I'm always willing to help her out if ever she needs it.

Bonnie Simpraseuth

Capturing the moment. Being able to capture what we do as a chapter whether it is attending services to bonding through fellowships. I really want to incorporate videos. Such as short videos of services that we do or bro bondings that we go on. I want these videos to give brothers the UNF of a short term happiness high. Everyone has their own style of editing and taking pictures so I hope to live up to the standards of past Historians but with my own personal twist.

Public Relations

Bree Zamora

Hello AEN! First and foremost, I would like to extend my most deepest and sincerest gratitude and honor for electing me to serve as your public relations officer for this coming term. With this position I have multiple goals in which I plan to pursue. Among these goals, I would like to increase relations with other on campus organizations within USF. That being said, I plan to put forth an intiative known as Meet the Greeks Part II - which is an event for other Greek organizations who are not a part of Greek Council to afford them the opportunity to showcase their Fraternity/ Sorority. Other goals I plan to pursue is increasing relations among other Inter Chapters by fostering new and innovative ideas and activities. In particular, I would like to strengthen the ties with our big brother chapter, Mu Zeta. In addition, I also plan to restructure the image and increase publicity and awareness of AEN-APO. That being said, I look forward to serving you the brothers and future brothers of AEN-APO.

Krystal Sandoval

Hi AEN!

I would like to start by thanking you all for an amazing year, I'm so thankful that I could spend my first year as a Brother serving you. This semester has had a lot of ups and downs but overall I am so proud of everything achieved. I definitely think one of my proudest moments was receiving interest from Delta Zeta and Delta Sigma Pi to collaborate on events. I'm glad to see our Chapter working with other organizations and hope to see this continue in the future. I wish I had had more time to plan out Gala and Hunger Games, but am grateful for the constant support from Brothers and turn out at these events. I wish all the best to Bree and remember to have fun with this position! Remember that you're the go to for all interchapter matters & you always have the support  of them as well. I love you all and I hope your summer is great!

Special Events & Apparel

Eva Long

My proudest moments as Special Events & Apparel is being able to step outside of the box and work with creative venues to host banquet. In the Fall we hosted it at the Cliff House with phenomenal views and great three course meal. In the Spring, we had hosted the event on a yacht that had even better views of the skyline of San Francisco. I also wanted to change the culture of banquet and really get brothers and alumni excited about this event. For the first time, we had skyrocketed the number of attendees to exceed 100 which has never been seen before. Also, on the apparel portion of the position, I have really valued given autonomy to the chapter to choose what they want to wear. I had opened up t-shirt designs to the chapter and in the Spring, gave the option of the style of apparel and then worked out to get the Baseball T-s paid for by the university.

If I had more time in the position, I would put together more apparel items throughout the semester. The biggest challenge with this is that many people are under monetary constraints so there isn't  lot of buy-in from the chapter but it would be great to have family apparel. We have such great pride in our family that it would be exciting to have that kind of apparel.

For the next position, I would really advise them to continue to be creative when it comes to banquet and always remember that banquets are not just to celebrate the achievements of the newly crossed over class but to celebrate the chapter as a whole. This means congratulating the chapter and recognizing individuals and Seniors that have gone above and beyond. To create more of an inclusive space at banquet.

Pledge Team

Martin Juarez

Seeing them all grow as people. When we first saw them, we just saw them as names on an email or a spreadsheet. But at the end, they became real people with real memories and experiences. We focused a lot on personal development. I think I would've incorporated more workshops more geared towards professional development. I hope they understand that the executive board is always there as a support system for everything. Use them as a way to bounce ideas off of since everyone experienced a different pledging process so it helps in the end.

Rumneek Bains

Some of the proudest moments that I experienced as Pledge Master includes not only seeing all 25 of my kids cross but all the little things in between. I know midpoint and the added requirements were tough on them and I am so utterly proud that they all pushed through. I also loved getting to know them and watch them grow from the day they sat in their seats for initial interviews and the first pledge meeting to who they are today. If I had more time, I think my main goal would be to integrate brothers a lot more into the process because I feel that the way that AEN's pledging process is designed is very exclusive (to brothers)--which isn't necessarily bad but it would help to bridge the gap between the two! For the next Pledge Master, I hope she loves unconditionally but also knows when to put her foot down. More importantly, I want her to cherish all of it because 9 weeks honestly isn't enough!

Tyler Warner

My advice to the next pledge trainers whoever you are is to enjoy every moment of the process, from beginning to end. Don’t focus on how stressed you are, how little sleep you’re getting, or how much work you have to do. Instead, give it your 100% and enjoy the process. Enjoy staying up late working on the little things, enjoy the late nights bonding with your pledge team, and most of all, enjoy and cherish every second you spend with your pbabies. You never know when you’ll get the chance to see all of them together again once they cross over. Also, don’t forget to spend time with E - Board as well. They always enjoy your contributions, input, point of view, and just hanging with you in general.

Life moves on and so will I, but AEN is in great hands with Martin and his E-Board, and Melissa and her Pledge Team. AEN has an extremely bright future with all the leaders from EH and future pledge classes coming up. The saying goes that people "join APhiO for the service and stay for the people". Remember to build on the bonds that you developed through your time in APhiO, but don’t forget to spend time doing services for causes you care about as well. The world is in need of people like you to make the change we need to make the world a better place for all parties involved.

Melissa Vergonio

As the incoming Fall 2015 pledge master, some things I look forward to pursuing in this position are the themes of respect and commitment. Through my actions and those of my future pledge team I hope to inspire and set an example to the incoming pledge class to enter and stay a part of this brotherhood. My main goal is to break the mold of emphasis solely on family lines and have brothers remember that as a whole, we are one big family. I want my future pledges to know that brotherhood is more than being a bigs, being a grands, or being a pbro. I want the pledges to not only take away amazing memories and friendships from this experience, but also learn necessary technical skill to help them professionally. The utilization of campus resources like Career Services can be expected next fall. I hope this experience that I will be shaping will be remembered by the incoming class as something worthwhile.

Also, I look forward to pursuing my own growth as well as pushing the personal growth of the incoming pledge class. I know I have a responsibility of being an important resource to them for Alpha Phi Omega and I want to show that growth does not end with pledging. I am going into my third year and there is still much I have learned and I am excited to learn more with this process I will be leading for them.
